First of all, I would like to ask an apology if I haven’t been publishing an update regarding my campaign for a while. On the other hand, I would like to acknowledge my loyal readers Eumir and Robert who continuously stirred me to write the progress of my quest. (Here it is bros…)
Well today is my 42nd day on my quest to build and E-commerce web site. Exactly 42 days ago when I decided to set up and online store from ground up with one thing in mind, MAKE MONEY from it.
I hope that didn’t sound greedy to you because, I mean honestly speaking, who doesn’t want to make extra income from the things that you love doing most?
I love blogging, I love setting up websites, I love testing newly acquired knowledge (especially SEO), I love building relationships through social media sites, I love exploring the internet. Those are the few of the several things that I want to do with less exertion (no pressure). So why not use it for my advantage? Right?
Learning SEO, deeply, everyday…
I introduced to you on my previous post the link building course that I am currently learning from Jon Cooper’s Point Blank SEO. I must say that I am extremely thankful that I got a copy of the course because it has taught me a lot of SEO stuff. Even a veteran SEOer will learn something valuable from the course and it’s what newbie SEO aspirants should have. If you’re interested to check it out, click here. (The link I provided is an affiliate link. I will earn certain amount of commission if you opt to purchase the course using the link I provided. Thank you.)
Link Wrap Up
Before I go to the meat of the details, let allow me to give you a quick link wrap up of my previous post on this quest.

- Day 2: My Quest to build an E-commerce Web Site - Domain name registration
- Day 9: My Quest to build an E-commerce Web Site - WordPress & plugins installation/ purchase and installation of Amazon eStore Affiliates Plugin/ purchase of Zon ASIN Hunter.

Shopisa.com site update
As of this writing there are 11,300 (and counting) products on different categories that are published on the site. All of these products are coming directly from amazon.com including the product’s image(s), descriptions, and user reviews. I am using a template/plugin called Amazon eStore Affiliate Plugin that acts as the site’s template (look and feel) as well as to save the product database. The plugin is also responsible for the system that mediates my site going to amazon.com for the payment.
The other tool/software that I use is ZON ASIN Hunter. What this software does is it scrapes the entire product ASIN from Amazon of any of your desired category/node and them extracts them into csv/xml file ready to be uploaded using Amazon eStore Affiliate Plugin.
If you want to read more on how these two plugin/software works, read my day 9 post.
To be honest, I haven’t been doing any link building to the site (except for the links coming from this blog). But to my surprise, there was an unexpected spike on the site’s number of visits. From its launch, I usually receive an average of 30 to 40 visits per day. But when I checked the stats of August 18, the number of visits jumped to 79, then the next day went up to 328, and the following day to 538 visits.
I’m not sure what caused my stats to spike up so I asked one of my Facebook groups (ASK PINOY BLOGGERS) to help me figure out the probable reasons for this phenomenon. With the help of the group, here are the probable reasons:
- One of the keywords of the product selection got rank instantly
- One of the post got shared on popular social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter
- Possible that the visit hits are from search engine bots and not actual people
- Possible round up post or site list
Whatever the reason, I shall give you further report regarding that on my future posts. But for now, I am gratefully delighted with the result.
I have finally decided to put up a section on my blog to share with you my income report. It will be a new element on my site and I am super excited about it. But of course, don’t expect me to get 5-figure-income yet unlike my blogging idol Pat Flynn.
To give you a snapshot of my income as of this writing:
- 733 clicks
- 24 ordered items
- 17 shipped items
- 3.27% conversion
- $26.00 month to date income
Still not much to quit my job, but I am seeing a good trend…
Return of Investment
Investment versus income:
- Domain Hosting: Free
- Domain name registration: $12.95
- Amazon eStore Affiliates Plugin: $25.00
- Zon ASIN Hunter: $29.95
- Total of $67.90
Based on the project’s expenses, I am still $41 dollars away from recovering my investment.
As of this writing, I am preparing my SEO/backlinking battle plan.I am super stoked to share with you the complete blueprint of it soon. But for now, this is the development of my quest to build a passive, automated income generating site.
If you want to visit the site, here it is: shopisa.com.
