It was July 11, 2013 when I decided to put up an online store and this is day 26 of my quest to build an e-commerce web site. If you want to read my previous blog post about this topic, check out the link wrap up at the bottom of this page.
If you’re up-to-date with my campaign to make money with an e-commerce site, you will notice that my last post was on the 9th day. That’s because I have been really busy working on some personal matters. Important stuff that really required my time and presence that I needed to personally deal with them. Let me update you about what I’ve been doing lately.
Two weeks ago, I bought a second hand Toyota Vios 2006 model. I decided to replace my old car because I wanted to have a more comfortable travel for wife since she’s now 8 months pregnant. And I come to a decision to buy a second hand car because (obviously) it’s cheaper. But still, I am more than satisfied with this new blessing.
That whole week, I got really caught up completing all the documents and bank papers. I almost got sick because of the fatigue – as you may not know, I work during the night in a call center company and I settle the requirements during the day.
Much more important blessing
I mentioned earlier that my wife is now 8 months pregnant and we’re really excited about it. We have been hectically occupied preparing stuff for our up-coming daughter and we’re truly thrilled because she’s our first child to be. Additionally, her schedule with the OB/GYN doctor got demanding making sure her pregnancy will be healthy.
Actually, my excitement led me to this drive – to set up an online store. Everthing I work for in this side is dedicated for our daughter. I even registered the domain with her name on it. Our daughter’s name is Samantha Isabelle and the site’s domain name is ShopIsa.com – Shop simply means store and “Isa” is her nickname.
SEO Affiliate advertisement
If you notice at the right side of my blog on the advertisement section, I have a new product affiliate link from PointBlankSEO.com’s Link building course. I recently purchased the PDF course and currently studying it. I am aiming to create a blog post review of the course within this week but I’m sure it will be the best investment to spend money on anyone who wants to learn SEO.
What’s the update on the e-commerce site?
As of this day, the store has 8,000 plus products from different categories, all from Amazon.com. This was made possible because of the software that I purchased called Zon ASIN Hunter. This software simple scrapes any/all Amazon Standard Identification Number from the product category of your choice in Amazon.com and then extracts that into a CSV file – making it easier and faster to add products to the store’s database.
The website’s theme is actually a plugin that I purchased from codecanyon.net called Amazon eStore Affiliate Plugin. It’s a WordPress theme and a plugin at the same time. The plugin saves the database of the products added to the store and handles the transition of purchasing a product(s) from my website to Amazon.com.

E-commerce website search engine optimization/ link building
As of today, I have not done any link building campaign besides from the link coming from this blog. Other than that, I have not build any links from other blogs, social media sites, social bookmarking sites, directories and forums. Because my main goal as of this moment is to construct the foundation of products, probably a minimum of 10,000 items before I search engine optimize the site.
Once I assemble the foundation, I will create a blog section that will talk about related topics and the product itself from the store. That way, it will be much easier to optimize and target specific keywords pointing out to the main store section.
Although I haven’t search engine optimize the site, it has surprisingly an average of 50 visits per day.
A regular income report will definitely be one of my new elements in this blog as an outcome to my campaign – a quest to build an e-commerce store. To give you a glimpse of the current income of ShopIsa.com for the month of August 2013, there are a total of 57 clicks from product links and 5 of those links were converted to sales resulting to an early 11.4% conversion. Month to date, my income from advertising fees from amazon.com is $8.59.
How much did I invest all in all so far?
- Domain Hosting: Free
- Domain name registration: $12.95
- Amazon eStore Affiliates Plugin: $25.00
- Zon ASIN Hunter: $29.95
- Total of $67.90
